RTK GPS
Topics: Sensors
Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS is a technology that is used to provide highly accurate positioning. Unlike traditional GPS that relies on satellites only and is accurate to about 3-10 meters, RTK GPS uses additional data from a nearby base station to improve the accuracy to within centimeters.
The base station coordinates are precisely known. Because of that, the base station can compare its position to the position calculated from satellite signals and estimate the error caused by atmospheric conditions, satellite clock inaccuracies, orbital deviations, and signal interference. The base station sends correction data to the GPS receiver through a radio link, internet connection, or NTRIP. The GPS module uses the satellite signals and the correction data to determine its position with higher accuracy.
